Spring 2026

PHYS 342 (Electromagnetic Fields)

  • Lecture MeetingsMWF 1:15 – 2:30
  • Moodle Link (requires Lafayette login): https://moodle.lafayette.edu/course/view.php?id=32135
  • Quick Description: You might have heard about Maxwell’s equations in Physics II. In PHYS 342, Maxwell’s equations come alive. We will go beyond problem solving, and work instead toward a fundamental understanding. How could these four little formulas possibly describe all of classical electricity and magnetism? Along the way you will gain a firm grounding in electrostatics, magnetostatics, and electrodynamics.

PHYS 112 Lab (General Physics-Electricity, Magnetism, and Optics)

  • Lab Section 02 MeetingTh 8:00 – 10:45
  • Lab Section 03 MeetingTh 1:15 – 4:00
  • Moodle Link (requires Davidson login): https://moodle.lafayette.edu/course/view.php?id=32473
  • Quick Description: This course is an introduction to electric and magnetic fields; electromagnetic induction; electric circuits; waves; geometrical and physical optics; foundations of quantum mechanics; and nuclear physics.

Fall 2025
