Fall 2023

PHY 125 (General Physics with Calculus I: Studio)

  • MWF 8:30 am – 10:20 am
  • Moodle Link (requires Davidson login): https://moodle.davidson.edu/course/view.php?id=16286
  • Quick Description: In this course we will study the fundamental physics of objects on the “human” scale.  We will cover three basic areas of physics: mechanicsfluids and waves, and thermodynamics.

PHY 330 (Classical Mechanics)

  • TR 9:40 am – 10:55 am
  • Moodle Link (requires Davidson login): https://moodle.davidson.edu/course/view.php?id=16167
  • Quick Description: Classical Mechanics is the “physics factory.” You put an object’s initial conditions into the factory (position, velocity, etc.), turn the mathematical crank, and out pop equations for how the object will move going forward. This means that Mechanics allows us to predict the future! In this course you will learn how to run the factory with applications ranging from medieval trebuchets to chaotic pendulums.

Spring 2024

PHY 225 (General Physics II: Studio)

  • MWF 10:30 am – 12:20 pm
  • Moodle Link (requires Davidson login): https://moodle.davidson.edu/course/view.php?id=16793
  • Quick Description: In this course you will learn about the consequences of the electromagnetic force including electricitymagnetism, and optics. Toward the end of the semester, you will get an introduction to some exciting topics in “modern physics” such as special relativity and quantum mechanics.

My courses are for you and I want you to succeed. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out.
